We didn’t do a lot today as it is cold and rainy. We did go for a walk and got some groceries, a couple of souvenirs and umbrellas but it was just too cold and damp to be out. After five weeks of travelling and being away from home, we got talking about all the things we miss so since I don’t have much to write about today, I compiled a list.
- My family and friends
- My bed
- Smooth sidewalks – cobblestone is hard on the joints
- Open spaces – we practically look into the windows of the people across the street and the city is almost claustrophobic
- My car – getting around would be much easier
- Full force showers and toilets
- Microwave oven – had one in Spain but not here
- A large grocery store – choices are limited
- Tim Horton’s – or any coffee that is hot and served in anything larger than a thimble!
- A phone – I brought my i-phone but it was locked until Sept and thought I could live without it
- TV programs that are newer than ten years – at least we have something in English so we should be grateful
- Service industry people that actually smile
- My Keurig
- So many kitchen gadgets that I really do use but didn’t know how much until now
- Good, soft bread. Italian bread is good but heavy and dry.
- A toaster. Again, we had one in Spain but not here.
- Drivers that aren’t on their horns all the time and drive much slower. And there are no safety laws here. People driving cars, bikes, scooters, taxis or buses…they are all on their phones all the time.
- Pleasantries such as please and thank you and not being pushed out of the way
- Smoke-free environments
- Large load washing machine and a dryer of any size
I will certainly appreciate home more once I’m there. After we made our list we realized how spoiled we are to live where we do and how blessed we are to have so much and at our disposal. Can’t wait to have it all again.
WE HAVE AN AMAZING DAY PLANNED TOMORROW! Can’t wait!
