I got the travel bug at a young age when my parents took me and my brother on road trips to the US. I still have a hand-written diary (an early travel blog?) I wrote at age 10 while I was on a family road trip south through Utah, Nevada, California and a few other US states.
Since those early days, I’ve travelled extensively. I’ve been all over the US and most of Canada, visiting almost every province as well as the Northwest Territories. I’ve been to Mexico a few times, as well as further south to Costa Rica and Panama. I’ve also gone on a few cruises through the Carribean and South America.
I’ve been a REALTOR for over two decades and absolutely love my career. It can definitely be demanding at times, often working long hours, seven days a week, and the busy summer real estate season can be challenging. But I also appreciate the flexibility it affords me. Like the ability to pack up and go on a trip on a whim and leave my business in the capable hands of a long-time, trusted colleague.
When I met my wife in 2009, we immediately connected on our love of travelling. The first few years we were together, we probably averaged five trips per year, and especially loved just picking a desination with no plan, flying there, renting a car, and just figuring things out along the way. Then we had twin girls. Suddenly planning everything was a must. We did take the girls on a few road trips as well as a Disneyland vacation that they loved. But it’s certainly been tougher to get away as much as we’d like. As the girls get older and more independent, it’s getting easier, though!
My biggest adventure to date was in 2011, when I spent a month on safari, sleeping in tents, in the East African countries of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. This is a trip I also took with my mom, Cheryl, in celebration of my 40th and her 60th birthdays. I look at this Norway trip as our next-decade birthday celebrations, even though it’s a few years late this time.
Europe is one area of the world I’ve never travelled, other than a couple brief stops in places. My wife has travelled extensively through Europe and spent a great deal of time there, and we one day look forward to going and taking our daughters with us. Can’t wait to experience Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to set out on this fabulous adventure with my oldest son, Jason Hafso, in May 2024. For those of you who may not know me… maybe this will help.
I was born and raised in Edmonton, and after graduating at the age of 18, I married and had two children. We moved to Viking, Alberta, for the next 16 years before I moved back to Edmonton. I worked at a few jobs before finding one with a Realtor as her assistant and soon decided that I’d try my hand at becoming a Realtor as well. I did fairly well in the business, and one day my son, Jason, came to me and said he’d also like to try it. We joined up as a mother/son team and worked together for 4 years before I decided to change course again and moved to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Living there for 11 years was a dream, and I thought I’d never leave. Like they say… never say never! I got a call from Jason to tell me that he and his wife were expecting a baby in February… well, not exactly true… there were 2 babies, and I knew then that I had to come back to Edmonton yet again to help out and be with the twins, and it was the best decision of my life. I see those little girls many times a week, and the hugs and laughter they give me are worth every moment. I also have two grown granddaughters.
During my life, I have been on many adventures. I have traveled the US extensively, seeing almost every state except some of the very eastern ones. I have been to every province in Canada, including Nunavut, and was there twice. Africa in 2011 to celebrate my 60th birthday along, again, with Jason, was a dream come true followed by a month in Italy and Greece with my friends Micki and Dorothy, and in 2016, a trip to Italy and Spain with a good friend, Joey… another chance to make memories. I’ve skied and dog sledded, been in underground caves, climbed a mountain in Hawaii, and flown in a helicopter. I’ve walked on the stones that the soldiers once walked on in the Parthenon and imagined what it was like to watch live theatre in the Coliseum. I’ve ridden an elephant, kissed a giraffe, and been closer to a hippo than I wanted to be. I boated on the Nile River, waded in the Arctic Ocean, and dipped my toes in the dirty waters surrounding Venice.
I’ve lived a wonderful, full life and have experienced so much in my 72 years, and I’m not done yet.
