Here we come, Norway!

In May 2024, my mom (Cheryl) and I have an exciting adventure planned as we embark on a month-long journey to explore the landscapes and cultures of Scandinavia. Our first destination will be the city of Oslo, Norway. We’ll be sure to visit landmarks such as the Royal Palace and the Oslo Opera House (where we already have tickets for a show). But our exploration won’t be limited to Oslo alone, as we have an entire region of Norway to discover.

From Norway, we’ll journey to Denmark, a country famous for its castles, coastlines, and the capital city of Copenhagen. In Copenhagen, we’ll wander through Nyhavn harbor and visit the Little Mermaid statue. After our Danish escapade, we’ll cross the Öresund Bridge, connecting Denmark and Sweden. Leaving Sweden behind, we’ll return to Oslo, before hopping on a plane to the land of fire and ice, Iceland.

We’ll only have a couple days in Iceland, but hope to have time to see a few things like the Gullfoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, and travel the Golden Circle.

Throughout our journey, we’ll be documenting our experiences, capturing the moments, and sharing them with you on this site. So, stay tuned for frequent updates as we traverse these Nordic wonders, immersing ourselves in the beauty and culture of Scandinavia.

Absolutely! It’s one of the reasons we picked our travel dates. Looking forward to celebrating Constitution Day!

Where will you be? Oslo is too busy for my taste 😀 Bergen is different, but very nice, if you get great weather 😉

We’ll be in Oslo for a few days (including the 17th) and then we’ll be on the road for the following few weeks, seeing as much as we can in the time we have; Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger and much more. I see you have a travel blog. I’ll have to have a read to see if there is anywhere we haven’t already considered going.

Are you going up north? I’m from the north, but live in Oslo, so mostly things from those two areas. Did revisit other places during covid. Just not Bergen. Maybe next year. Røros, not too far from Trondheim, is adorable. And I liked Lindesnes fyr (lighthouse), beautiful coastline, if you’re going down south. If there is anything you’re wondering about when planning or while here, let me know, and I’ll try to help.

We’re not going too far north. Starting in Oslo and heading north, we’ll make a stop in the little town of Lesja, where my great-grandmother was born and raised. We’ll go as far north as Trondheim. And then, we’ll come back down the coast and make a sort-of counter-clockwise loop along the coastline through Ålesund, Bergen, Stavanger, Kristiansand, etc. until finally returning to Oslo. Røros may be a little off our path, but we have Lindesnes fyr on our list of stops. We also plan on touring into Denmark and Sweden a bit, time permitting.
